Details: West Sound Academy invites prospective families, friends and community members to an Open House on January 10, 2012, at 7:00 p.m. Open Houses are the single most efficient way to learn a lot about the school in a short period of time. Our doors open at 6:45 p.m., and the evening wraps up around 9:00 p.m. You'll have a chance to learn about our academics and extracurricular activities, meet the Head of School and some of the faculty and students, and take a tour of the campus. Event: Gallery Opening for Photographer Michael Uyyek

Details: Photography by Michael Uyyek will be on exhibit at West Sound Academy's Frodel Gallery from January 3, 2012 through February 14th. The school will host a gallery opening for the artist on Friday, January 27th from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Guests will be able to enjoy light refreshments, along with a wine-tasting.

Event: Empty Bowls Fundraiser
Location: Gateway Fellowship Church, 18901 8th Avenue Northeast,  Poulsbo, WA
Time: 11:30AM-2:30PM
Details: Attend our benefit on Saturday, January 28 from 11:30 to 2:30 at Gateway Fellowship Church in Poulsbo.  Enjoy a warm bowl of soup in a hand-painted, one-of-a-kind bowl that is yours to keep as a reminder that someone’s bowl is always empty.

Event: Free Mixed Level Yoga

Details: Join our Saturday morning Mixed Level class at 8:30am weekly. Class is by donation only, we are collecting monetary donations to support North Kitsap High School PTSA for the first quarter of 2012. Our donations will go to support activities such as Season of Giving, Teacher and Staff Appreciation and Scholarships for graduating seniors. This class is appropriate and great for beginner-intermediate participants.

Event: Community Screening of 'American Teacher' documentary film.

Details: West Sound Academy's Parent Community Association is sponsoring a community screening of the documentary film 'American Teacher' on January 31, 2012, at 7 p.m., on the WSA campus. 'American Teacher' is a feature-length documentary, produced by Nínive Calegari and Dave Eggers, and narrated by Matt Damon. The film chronicles the stories of four teachers living and working in disparate urban and rural areas of the country. By following these teachers as they reach different milestones in their careers, the film tells the deeper story of the teaching profession in America today. The film uses features stories and interviews to demonstrate the impact teachers have on the success of their students, and the increasing difficulty in attracting and retaining quality teachers for our nation's schools.
Admission is free; donations will be accepted at the door in support of educational programs at West Sound Academy.
